09:00hrs This day is dedicated to exciting excursions around the city of Nairobi as we warm up to a fun filled family holiday adventure!

Nairobi Safari Walk

“The Closest you can get to the Wild”

With its raised wooden boardwalk that allows for uninterrupted views of the animals, the Safari Walk is a show case for Kenya’s Parks and Reserves, allowing visitors to discover what they can expect to see across the country. Visitors can see at a close range, a sample of the country’s rich animal life including the rare bongo, white rhino, and albino zebra as well as big cats (Lion, Leopard, and Cheetah) antelopes, and primates.

The Giraffe Centre

‘AFEW’ A creation of Kenyan conservation organization means “Africa Fund for Endangered Wildlife was founded in 1979. It was founded by the late Mr. John David (Jock) Leslie-Melville in order to manage and monitor the trans location of the endangered Rothschild Giraffe from Soy area to the AFEW Centre. While on an excursion tour of Giraffe center you will come close to the tallest mammal of the world, feed it, kiss it, stroke it or even pose for a photo beside it.

It’s already time for lunch and you can choose to have it at the nearby Tambo Restaurant or at the world-famous Carnivore Restaurant

The Carnivore is a meat specialty restaurant.  At the restaurant, whole joints of meat, lamb, pork legs, exotic meats, sausages, chicken livers and wings, and even crocodiles are skewered on traditional Masai swords and roasted over a huge charcoal pit!

After lunch, you may opt to drop in at one of the Shopping Malls for a “stroll around “before driving back to the hotel.

Nairobi Serena Hotel / Fairmont The Norfolk / Movenpick Hotel & Residences / Tamarind Tree Hotel

Here, the locals perform a water demonstration to qualify the position of the equator and for a small tip you will be awarded an ‘equator certificate’.  Drive on to the nearby 110,000-acre Ol Pejeta Wildlife Conservancy, which lies on the Laikipia plains.  Enjoy a game viewing drive en-route to Sweetwaters Serena Camp your home for the next two nights.

Day 4 – Olpejeta Wildlife Conservancy

Full day in the Conservancy with morning and afternoon game viewing drives.  Host to all the members of the ‘Big Five’ (elephant, rhino, lion, buffalo and leopard), the conservancy has a higher wildlife-to-area ratio than any Kenyan national park and is one of only four private game conservancies to have been founded in Kenya.

At the forefront of the Kenyan conservancy program, the conservancy boasts the largest Black Rhino Sanctuary in East Africa, hosts the only Chimpanzee Sanctuary in Kenya, and shelters large numbers of rare and endangered species.

Day 5 – Olpejeta to Lake Naivasha

After an early breakfast in the camp, check-out and drive to Lake Naivasha skirting the Aberdare Mountain ranges to Nyahururu falls for a photo-stop. Still known to many as Thomson’s Falls, its waters fall 237‑feet making it the country’s highest water fall.   Enjoy magnificent views of the Great Rift Valley Escarpment en-route.

Lunch at your lodge followed by an afternoon at leisure before a Boat Cruise in the lake.

Boat Ride: Lake Naivasha is the highest and the most beautiful of the Rif Valley lakes. One of Africa’s most renowned fresh water lakes and a boat safari ride here allows you to spot Hippo and numerous Bird species including Kingfisher, Fish Eagle, Herons, Jacanas and more. The lake itself is remarkably picturesque, set against a purple backdrop of a volcanic mountain range and lined by thick yellow barked Acacia trees. In terms of wildlife the lake is home to over a thousand protected Hippo and the shores of the lake also host small numbers of Giraffe, Zebra, Waterbuck and the odd eland and wildebeest. The Boat ride is therefore an exciting yet relaxing lake safari experience with plenty of interesting sights to enjoy.

Return to the lodge to refresh for dinner and overnight.

All meals & overnight at either:

Lake Naivasha Sopa Resort / Enashipai Resort & Spa / Lake Naivasha Simba Lodge

Day 6 – Lake Naivasha to Masai Mara Game Reserve

After an early breakfast in the lodge, depart driving down the eastern wall of the Great Rift Valley, your driver guide will stop at strategic viewpoints for photography where you will come out and view the escarpment and take photos.

Optional: Masai Village “Manyatta” visit en-route to Masai Mara:

Maasai Cultural Village

You have probably seen them in photos or videos with very colorful attires. The Maasai tribe are nomads in nature and still maintains their traditional way of life. You will always find them wearing the traditional attires which are either red, purple, and blue patterns of the Maasai shukas.  During the visit, you will not only interact with them but also get a glimpse of their traditional way of life.   The Masai Tribe live in small mud-thatched houses known as Manyatta.  They will break into dance; you will get an amazing experience singing and dancing along. There is room for you to join the dance and measure how high you can jump!  You will also get the opportunity to enter the houses made of sticks, mud, cow dung, grass, urine, and ash.

Drive on to Masai Mara Game Reserve to arrive at your lodge/camp in the early afternoon for check-in and lunch followed by an afternoon at leisure to relax and enjoy the lodge facilities that include a swimming pool that gives you sweeping views of the of the expansive Masai Mara plains.

16:00hrs Depart for an afternoon game drive in the reserve.  The Mara is also noted for its abundance of lions – particularly the superb black manned males.

You’ll see lots of elephants here often in large herds, as well as – if you’re lucky – leopard, cheetah and rhino.   All of the Big Five are residents. You’re sure to see the African buffalo. Get the cameras ready, charge the batteries and enjoy yourself!

18:00hrs Return to the lodge/camp to refresh for dinner.

Dinner and overnight at Mara Serena Safari Lodge / Sarova Mara Game Camp / Ashnil Mara Camp

Day 7 – Masai Mara Game Reserve

Full day in the Mara with morning and afternoon game viewing drives daily in the Reserve.   Certainly the most frequented game reserve in Kenya, Masai Mara is a magnificent landscape of open plains bisected by the Mara River and its tributaries, and punctuated by marshes and forests.

As the northern tip of the vast Serengeti ecosystem, the Mara hosts the spectacular seasonal migration of many thousands of Wildebeest, Zebras and attendant predators.
